Datacard's SP Plus Series card printers use ribbons designed sepcifically for Datacard ID card printers.  When a Datacard print ribbon has been installed, the printer senses the ribbon load and begins card printing.  The printer will only print images when Datacard color ribbons are utillized. 

A blue core with platinum flecks are found on ribbons that are Datacard Certified Supplies.
